Peony Varieties
Aunt Rosie’s philosophy centers around growing top end peony varieties,
in a diverse range of colours, for supplying international markets.
Reds
Red Charm is undoubtedly the best known and most popular red peony available. Also it's one of the earliest available double-flowered varieties of the season. The large, perfectly rounded buds can grow to be as large as 22 cm. Short, bold but powerful, its no coincidence the red charm has never lost its place on the top table. I still remember asking my father what varieties are best to plant. His response, 1. Red Charm, 2.Red Charm and 3. Red Charm
Command Performance is a hybrid peony. This full-petalled flowers are among the largest of all peony varieties. It starts out red, but turns brighter during blooming. After two days of blooming, Command Performance shifts its colour from red to a dark orange and onto salmon. Eventually it will turn from peach to cream to white. This wonderful metamorphosis has earned Command Performance the nickname gobstopper.
Whites
Pinks
Nick Shaylor has huge pastel pink flowers and blooms in a remarkable way. The flowers will slowly but surely turn from light pink to an almost pure white. While Nicks never cease to amaze with their vase life of ten days. With its large flowers, Nick Shaylor stands out, making it popular go-to for large-scale events.
Corals, Blush and Singles
Gardenia is always picked with a pink bud, but once in bloom, it develops into a large, champagne white blush that is quite spectacular in a vase. Not content being visually outstanding, the Gardenia has a marvellous fragrance too. There’s a good reason why Gardenia is one of the most popular peony varieties on the market.
